LLI is a volunteer member-led program offering a wide variety of noncredit classes and other personal enrichment activities to its many members, all of whom enjoy learning for its own sake. There are no tests, no papers, no grades, no academic or age prerequisites. All classes are taught by unpaid volunteer presenters, often former faculty. The program is sponsored by UW-Green Bay’s Division of Continuing Education and Community Engagement and is mostly run by LLI volunteers. New members are welcome! Come join us!
What kinds of opportunities does LLI offer?
During spring and fall semesters, LLI typically offers 150-250 different classes on a wide range of topics and in a variety of formats, including online live, online recordings, classroom presentations, discussions, field trips, hands-on arts and crafts and technology courses, and classes focused on exercising the body as well as the mind. Many courses involve only one or two class sessions. A few courses involve four or more. Popular topics include:
- Arts & crafts
- History & genealogy
- Local interest & tours
- Nature & travel
- Reading & writing
- Self-help & games
When and where are classes held?
Classes usually meet for two hours once a week, either from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or from 1 to 3 p.m., with a fifteen minute break during the class. Many classes are held at UW-Green Bay campus locations. Some classes are held at off-campus sites such as the Neville Public Museum and local village halls and community centers.

How much is the LLI membership fee?
LLI has two enrollment periods—spring and fall. In fall, new members register for an annual membership of two semesters (spring/fall) for $140. In spring, new members register for a semester-long membership of one semester (spring) for $75.
What is the cancellation or refund policy?
LLI reserves the right to cancel any courses due to conditions beyond reasonable control, including, but not limited to, low enrollment, disaster, inclement weather, health emergency, unavailability of supplies, acts of God or any other circumstance. In the case of course cancellations, full or partial annual membership fees will not be refunded. Any course-specific fees for cancelled courses not already in session will be refunded.
How do I join LLI?
In order to register for classes, you will need to become a member.
What happens if there is bad weather?
Lifelong Learning Institute follows the guidance of Green Bay Area Public School District, Manitowoc Public School District, Marinette Public School District and the Sheboygan Public School District for class cancellations. If the school district cancels classes in a community due to bad weather, LLI classes are also canceled in that community. Classes may be canceled in the Manitowoc area and still be held in the Green Bay area. If the school district has a two-hour delay, then LLI classes that begin at 10 a.m. or later are held as scheduled.
Please monitor scrolling school cancellations at the bottom of the screen as aired by your local TV station. Some members choose to sign-up for a school cancellation app from either the TV stations or school districts and be notified by text of any cancellation.
