Student employment is a great way to learn real-life skills and supplement your college education expenses. Housing and Residential Education values and relies on student staff in its business and facilities operations, and in community development. Student serve in a variety of roles as follows:
 


Resident Mentor

We strongly encourage all interested candidates to apply. The RM experience is one of a kind where you can gain many transferable skills which will help you now and in the future. A Resident Mentor is a UW-Green Bay student who has been selected and trained by the Housing and Residential Education as a paraprofessional staff member. RMs live in the residence halls and apartments serving as a community facilitator, referral agent, peer advisor, and programmer. In addition, RMs uphold University and Housing and Residential Education policies and help maintain a living environment conducive to sleep and study.

Requirements: Minimum requirements are a 2.40 cumulative and semester GPA, full-time student status, sophomore standing by the start of employment, at least two semesters living in on-campus housing (can be from a campus different than UWGB), at least one semester living in on-campus housing at UW-Green Bay, and in good academic and disciplinary standing.

Hall Manager

The Hall Manager is the primary Housing and Residential Education student staff member responsible for the oversight and management of an assigned area, typically 2-3 buildings. The Hall Manager serves as a resource liaison to Facilities, Community Service Officers, the Housing Front Desk, and the Residential Education team. The Hall Manager will be familiar with the entire Housing and Residential Education operation and serves in an on-call rotation to provide direct support to Resident Mentor (RM) staff and relay concerns to professional staff as needed.

Requirements: Hall Managers must be an effective leader, reliable, responsible, mature, and able to handle a variety of difficult and emergency type situations. Employees must have a high level of initiative, able to work independently or in a team setting, have exceptional communication skills and be an efficient problem solver.
 
Must have Junior status when starting in role. Must have lived in campus housing for at least 2 semesters, 4 semesters preferred. Must be in good academic standing with the institution.

Hall Manager Job Description
 

Student Custodians and Maintenance Workers

Housing and Residential Education employs about 15 students for custodial and maintenance during the academic year and up to 30 students in the summer months. Most student employees will be assigned to cleaning duties in residence halls and apartments. Some positions are available on the facilities maintenance and painting staff.

The starting pay is $12.50 per hour with a maximum of 25 hours per week (academic year) between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday).

Must have good interpersonal communication, organizational and customer service skills, and the ability to respond to students and staff in a positive manner, be willing to work as a team member, and be able to perform physical labor such as cleaning and lifting (up to 50 pounds). The employees must maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout employment.

Front Desk Assistant

Front Desk Assistants support Housing and Residential Education by staffing a 24-hour front desk located in the Hendrickson Community Center. The front desk serves students, parents, summer guests, vendors, and visitors to the University throughout the Academic Year. For additional details please review the position description. Student Mailroom Assistant

Student Mailroom Assistants support Housing and Residential Education by staffing the student mailroom located in the lower level of the Hendrickson Community Center. This position assists in sorting of mail and processing of over 20,000 packages during the academic year. For additional details please review the position description. Community Service Officers

The role of the CSO is to provide outstanding quality customer service to the students, staff, faculty, and visitors, to observe and report, to serve as a resource to residents and other students, and at times serving as the primary contact person for visitors, students, and most importantly our residents.
Community Service Officers (CSOs) provide leadership to the Housing team including working approximately 10 scheduled hours and serving in an on-call capacity on a rotating basis in the evening and on weekends for an average of 20-25 hours per week. Applications are not being accepted at this time.

Student Graphic Artist

This position carries out a variety of functions and duties related to marketing and communication included but not limited to designing logos, graphics, posters, program promotion pieces, banners, html emails, developing and editing web content, assisting in the design of Facebook and YouTube video and advertisements, developing and maintaining a photo gallery, and serving on committees as assigned. Applications are not being accepted at this time.
