Prepare to Apply
We encourage you to reach out to an advisor, usually the chair of your intended program. Each chair is highly knowledgeable about their programs and can offer a plethora of advice on program fit, program options, and career potential.
Each individual graduate program may have additional pre-requisite requirements and additional steps to apply.

When applying UW-Green Bay's graduate school, you will need:
- Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution
- 3.0 grade point average. Applicants with a GPA of less than 3.0 may be considered for provisional admission.
- UW System application form (apply.wisconsin.edu)
- $56.00 application fee*
- Each program has their own reference request, please visit the program's website for more details
- Official transcripts from colleges and universities previously attended: Official electronic transcripts must be sent to UWGB Admissions at uwgb@uwgb.edu directly from the institution that issued the transcript.
- If you attended less than 9 credits you do not have to send an official transcript unless the courses completed were pre-requisites for the program. Study abroad transcripts are not required if a student attended an international University for one or fewer semesters. The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay retains the right to request additional official transcripts from all/or additional postsecondary institutions of higher learning attended by an applicant.
- All letters of evaluation/recommendation must come directly from the evaluator. The Office of Graduate Studies will not accept letters submitted by the applicant.
- International students will also need to provide the following documentation:
- A test of English proficiency (TOEFL ,IELTS or Duolingo English Test)
- Course-by-course transcript evaluation from a professional evaluation service currently recognized by NACES. UW-Green Bay recommends one of the following evaluation services:
*UW-Green Bay will pay the graduate school application fee for McNair Scholars. To receive this benefit, request an application fee payment form from your undergraduate McNair Scholars contact or
download a copy.
If you are a McNair Scholar, when completing the UW System application, simply skip the application fee payment section. Completed fee forms should be emailed directly to UW-Green Bay Office of Graduate Studies Graduate gradstu@uwgb.edu or mailed to 2420 Nicolet Drive Green Bay, WI 54311. Once we receive your form, your application will be updated in our system to confirm the payment requirement has been completed.
Graduate Special
Graduate Special is a non-degree seeking admission status for those pursuing graduate-level coursework for personal or professional enrichment, and certificates. The Graduate Catalog lists each of our Graduate Certificate programs that may require additional application materials beyond what is listed below.

- When applying, choose "a few courses" to choose your program as "Graduate Special" on the application.
- Confirmation of an undergraduate degree is required. Please request official transcripts from your undergraduate institution, and ask them to send them to UW-Green Bay. *Current UW-Green Bay undergraduate students in senior standing are welcome to apply!
