Big Data Big Ideas: Speaker Series

Data science encompasses the theoretical and practical application of ideas. UW-Green Bay is working in partnership with leading experts to make available a speaker series that demonstrates how to utilize big data in creative and powerful ways. Topics are Python in "Harry Potter," Statistical Science, Data & Team Sports Decisions, Succeeding as an Entrepreneur, Equity in Data Science, Twitter Case Study: Sentiment Analysis, and Scouting for Talent with Data.

Students, faculty and staff are welcome to gather and socialize in the Rosewood Café. Get to know student orgs and key campus resources, plus enjoy free snacks and join in on a scavenger hunt and prize raffle drawing. No registration required.

In this double-feature company tour, UWGB students, faculty, and staff are invited to tour Breakthrough Fuel and Schneider. Both are leaders in Data Analytics within the Supply Chain industry.

Book Club: The Anticipatory Organization

Wednesday, November 16 • 5:30p.m.-7:00p.m. • Breakthrough Fuel
In the Cofrin School of Business' first ever book club, we’re reading “The Anticipatory Organization: Turn Disruption and Change into Opportunity and Advantage” by Daniel Burrus. It’s open to all UWGB students, faculty, and staff, and FREE copies of the book are available at the Green Bay campus Library Circulation Desk.
We’ll also host a book discussion in person at Breakthrough Fuel on Wednesday, November 16th at 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Come share your thoughts and questions about the book in a lively discussion with area leaders.

Finance and Investment Challenge Bowl

Friday, December 2 • Wood Hall
This is a quiz bowl competition that helps teach high school students about personal finance and economics. FICB aligns with statewide instructional standards and is an effective strategy to promote learning. The Competition features student teams competing for trophies, fabulous prizes, and the opportunity to qualify for the state championship - all in an atmosphere of friendly competition.

Belmark Company Tour

Company Tour: Belmark

Friday, December 9 • 10:00a.m.-12:30p.m
UWGB Business and Engineering students are invited to participate in a company tour at Belmark on Friday, December 9th at 10am. Belmark is a local custom-packaging company that specializes in food brands. Touring the facility will offer interesting insights into the manufacturing and engineering of the products, as well as how the business is run. Space is limited to 30 attendees, so registration is first-come, first-serve.

Pitch Competition

Innovation On-Ramp Student Idea Competition

Wednesday, February 15 • 4 p.m. • Fort Howard Hall, Weidner Center
Pitch your innovative ideas, and compete for prizes. This competition is open to all UW-Green Bay students, and those who participate in the free Innovation On-Ramp virtual course are especially welcome to submit the ideas they have developed. All UWGB students are invited to submit their pitch ideas on how they could solve a problem facing Northeastern Wisconsin [NEW] for the opportunity to pitch live during the event.
