Right now, the public has less faith in policing and the criminal justice system in general. With this uncertainty, it is more important than ever to create pathways to researched-based civic problems, in an atmosphere of critical exploration and analysis. It is now that we must engage with the criminal justice system to develop empathy and understanding of our current situation. Now, that we must form alliances with key community members to improve the flaws in our system. There is no better time to expand courses that deal with issues of structural racism, classism, sexism and other types of exclusion in policing, courts, immigration, corrections, and the administration of justice.
