Were we the tomatoes?

We’re a serious university with a quirky history.

In fact, we were originally Bay Badgers. In 1971, “Phoenix” was elected official mascot over such entries as Hydros, Mavericks, Beavers, Voyageurs and more. Legend has it that election-day shenanigans pushed “Tomatoes” to a first-place finish. True?

The truth is out there
